Especially in winter it is not easy to get to Livigno. You can only reach the town from the north through the single-lane toll tunnel “Munt La Schera”. In addition, you have to stick to the passage times of the tunnel and almost all parking spaces in the village are subject to a charge.

Livigno is a well-known ski resort, located in the province of Sondrio. The community is right next to the Italian-Swiss border at an altitude of 1,816 meters. Thanks to its altitude and location directly in the Alps, Livigno is an ideal ski resort with lots of snow and many ski areas. It is even claimed to be the highest permanently inhabited place in Europe. This video gives a good impression of the area:
Plenty of snow and a wide variety of interesting winter activities make the place a true winter wonderland. Here, we give you a small overview of the various winter activities available in Livigno.
Skiing and snowboarding: In Livigno, the lifts for a total of 115 kilometers of slopes are usually open from the end of November. This means that you can ski earlier than in most other areas. In Livigno there are more than 30 lifts and many different slopes of all levels of difficulty. There is something suitable for every type of skier. The resort is also advertised as a freeride area and includes some snow parks.
Hiking with snowshoes or touring skis: You can reach the peaks around Livigno on the most diverse winter hiking trails with snowshoes or touring skis.
Cross-country skiing: In total, there are 30 km of cross-country skiing trails in the valley which invite you to go cross-country skiing. Part of the trail is already open from the end of October thanks to artificial snow. Biathletes are also catered for with a shooting range.
Fat bike: A fat bike is a bicycle with extra wide tyres designed to ride on snow. Livigno recognised this trend early on and offers a 20 km long slope as well as various tours with experts.
Mountain biking: Livigno is the ideal area for a bike tour. Whether with a normal bike or a mountain bike, there are enough routes and possibilities for everyone. For some years now, there have also been various downhill trails.
Hiking: Discover the mountain world in Livigno on the well-signposted hiking trails – always a breathtaking experience!
Climbing: Conquer the mountains and enjoy a wonderful view at the summit as a reward. There are many different climbing possibilities around Livigno.
Kayaking: An interesting way to discover Livigno: on the water. Many different tours are offered, many ideal for beginners.
